These flags may be inserted into molten aluminum to identify a casting.
The flags have a specially ( dip) coated end which
may be laser marked to black with either license plate (sequential) characters
or with mold specific data such as the time date code and part number.
The markings will survive up to the melting point of the aluminum and can
be read after the casting cools down. The casting can then be identified
with a marking made on the casting for traceability after the flag is cropped
off.
